Electricity can flow only when there are free moving charged particles present! In a solid, the free moving charged particles must be electrons. Electrolytes & Nonelectrolytes Substances whose aqueous solutions are conductors of electricity are called ELECTROLYTES. Substances whose aqueous solutions do not conduct electricity are called NONELECTROLYTES. Organic compounds are usually nonelectrolytes.
