ProMinents‘ Sensor Construction
Amperometry ProMinents‘ Sensor Construction 2 wire connector 1=positive 2=negative upper part with lead through for cable 2 wire connector clamping ring sensor body containing amplifier and temperature compensation (NTC) electrodes membrane cap containing electrolyte membrane O-ring venting hole reference- and counter electrode ProMinent Dosiertechnik GmbH Dulcotest Dr. Thomas Winkler working electrode

Advantages of ProMinent Sensors
Amperometry Advantages of ProMinent Sensors Membrane covered sensors compared to uncovered electrodes less dependency on sample flow (no flow control required) no drifts of zero point reduced running in time less interference by sample matrix (chemicals, emulsions, etc.) control of electrode reactions by defined conditions Variety of different measuring parameters available Per acetic acid Dissolved oxygen by special sensor design: different membrane materials different electrolytes different electrode materials different polarization voltage chlorite free chlorine HOCl total chlorine chlorine dioxide ClO2 organic chlorine total bromine O= N Cl- -Cl ozone O3 ProMinent Dosiertechnik GmbH Dulcotest Dr. Thomas Winkler Hydrogen peroxide H2O2

Advantages of ProMinent Sensors
Amperometry Advantages of ProMinent Sensors 2-wire-technique available in xxx-mA-types sensor output: mA-Signal no interference during long-distance-transfer no special cable necessary no plug necessary sensor input: voltage supply of sensor same 2 wires are used like for signal transfer sensor electronics separates both functions ProMinent Dosiertechnik GmbH Dulcotest Dr. Thomas Winkler

Technical Design of Sensor Types
Amperometry Technical Design of Sensor Types 2) Membrane Material Determination of the selectivity Hydrophobic membranes: high selectivity only unpolar compounds are permeable, e.g. HOCl, Cl2, O3 ,ClO2 sensor-types: CLE, CDE and OZE ATTENTION: hydrophobic membranes are interferred by surfactants hydrophobic membranes are able to keep liquid electrolyte Hydrophilic membranes: no selectivity all compounds dissolved in water are permeable sensor-types: CGE, CTE, BRE and CDP hydrophilic membranes are not interferred by surfactants hydrophilic membranes need a gel-electrolyte (reduced bleeding) ProMinent Dosiertechnik GmbH Dulcotest Dr. Thomas Winkler
7
Installation Considerations:
Water flow through sensor holder 8 – 20 gph Maintain constant water flow Limit incoming pressure to 10 psi Maintain constant pressure Assure atmospheric pressure on effluent side Avoid negative pressure (siphon) on effluent side ProMinent Dosiertechnik GmbH Dulcotest Dr. Thomas Winkler
8
Maintenance Considerations:
Keep chlorine levels no more than twice rated value for the sensors Keep the sensor and holder clean Watch and prevent bubbles in the holder (bubbles can permeate the TFE membrane and displace electrolyte ProMinent Dosiertechnik GmbH Dulcotest Dr. Thomas Winkler
