IC Controls 855 & 802 ppm Dissolved Oxygen System pH / ORP Conductivity Dissolved Oxygen Chlorine Standards www.iccontrols.com R1.0 © 2004 IC CONTROLS Internal Electrolyte Chemistry The electrolyte used for the IC Controls Model 802 galvanic sensor is potassium hydroxide and the reaction at the anode consumes hydroxide. With the IC Controls technology the hydroxide is consumed at exactly the same rate it is produced at the cathode. Therefore, the electrolyte concentration remains constant and reduces electrode drift. Also, sensor life is extended so membrane replacement is only necessary every 1 to 5 years. IC Controls 855 & 802 ppm Dissolved Oxygen System pH / ORP Conductivity Dissolved Oxygen Chlorine Standards www.iccontrols.com R1.0 © 2004 IC CONTROLS For any dissolved oxygen technology, reliable, accurate measurements are only possible if the sensor tip is clean. If the tip is not clean oxygen cannot diffuse through the membrane and false low readings will result. Importance of Cleaning

IC Controls 855 & 802 ppm Dissolved Oxygen System pH / ORP Conductivity Dissolved Oxygen Chlorine Standards www.iccontrols.com R1.0 © 2004 IC CONTROLS Self Cleaning Sensor In any application, the more mechanical pieces there are, the greater the number of points of maintenance and repair there are in the system. IC Controls model 802 uses NO mechanical cleaning, therefore, the sensor provides increased reliability and reduced maintenance.

IC Controls 855 & 802 ppm Dissolved Oxygen System pH / ORP Conductivity Dissolved Oxygen Chlorine Standards www.iccontrols.com R1.0 © 2004 IC CONTROLS 802 Tip Design The tip of the 802 is designed to create shearing action on the membrane tip. The membrane is CONVEX so that it protrudes slightly into the process. Also, the three FLUTES channel the flow across the membrane increasing the shearing action. The combination of the CONVEX shape, the FLUTES, and the sensor MOVEMENT provide superior cleaning action. Flutes Convex Membrane

IC Controls 855 & 802 ppm Dissolved Oxygen System pH / ORP Conductivity Dissolved Oxygen Chlorine Standards www.iccontrols.com R1.0 © 2004 IC CONTROLS Self Cleaning Action The self cleaning action takes place because of the turbulence in the water and the movement of the sensor. As the 802 moves the shearing action of the water cleans the tip. The greater the turbulence the greater the cleaning action.

IC Controls 855 & 802 ppm Dissolved Oxygen System pH / ORP Conductivity Dissolved Oxygen Chlorine Standards www.iccontrols.com R1.0 © 2004 IC CONTROLS Recharging the Sensor Over time the sensor internal will deplete and the membrane and fill solution will need replacement. Historically, this was a difficult process with creases being formed in the membrane and air bubbles in the fill solution which cause false high readings. The process could take up to 1 hour to replace a membrane and put a sensor back on line. The Model 802 provides ease of use which includes fast, reliable and simple maintenance.

This system ensures there are no air bubbles or creases in the membrane cap which will cause false high readings. Recharging is an easy process that allows re-installation in less than 5 minutes.
