1) He issues commands (in a variety of forms). 2) He provides examples—both of individuals and churches. 3) He teaches by implication, meaning that He indicates what we should believe or practice without expressly saying it (requires inferences on our part).

Why do we observe the Lord’s Supper? ◦ Command—1 Cor. 11:24: “Do this in remembrance of Me.” Why do we observe it on the first day of the week? ◦ Example—Acts 20:7: “Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to bread bread…” Why do we use unleavened bread? ◦ Implication—only unleavened bread was used during the Passover. ◦ Frequency is also taught by implication.
