RITE-LOK™ Cyanoacrylate Adhesives Mechanism of RITE-LOK™ Cyanoacrylate Adhesive cure An acidic stabiliser (red) keeps cyanoacrylate liquid Water particles (blue) on the substrate surface neutralise the stabiliser Polymerisation begins and the parts are bonded together

Where the application will be submerged in water or constantly wet These conditions can soften the adhesive and may cause failures Where there are low ambient humidity conditions These conditions will slow down the curing process Cyanoacrylate adhesive will bond to glass, but failure is likely later Silane based substrate where insufficient chemical bonds are made with the surface of the glass Please remember! Thin bond lines give the strongest bond and cure most rapidly

RITE-LOK™ Cyanoacrylate Activators RITE-LOK™ Activators are designed for: Rapid curing of RITE-LOK™ cyanoacrylate adhesives–even below 0º C Curing on difficult to bond substrates (for example, wood) Curing where gap-filling is required Before assembly apply to one substrate only parts should be assembled immediately the activator is dry on-part life of 15 minutes After assembly spray on the joint to cure any uncured adhesive Shelf life – 12 months (AC800 – 9 months)

RITE-LOK™ Cyanoacrylate Primer RITE-LOK™ Cyanoacrylate Primer (AC77) is designed for: Surface conditioning of substrates to allow improved bonding to substrates with low surface energy, for example: Polypropylene Polyethylene PTFE Silicone rubber AC77 should be applied to the low energy substrate only and allowed to dry before assembly On-part (work) life up to 8 hours

Anaerobic adhesives cure in the absence of oxygen and in the presence of metal ions To keep the adhesive in a liquid state, an air space is left in the bottle and the low density container allows air migration How does an anaerobic adhesive cure? After assembly Solid Oxygen present - the adhesive remains liquid Before assembly AIR Liquid Oxygen excluded/the adhesive is in contact with metal - the adhesive cures to form a tough, durable plastic film which bonds and seals the joint

RITE-LOK™ Anaerobic Adhesives RITE-LOK™ anaerobic adhesives will not cure on plastic parts No metal ions present to start the polymerisation process Do not use on oxygen/oxygen-rich or chlorine systems Uncured anaerobic adhesive can be hazardous in these conditions Do not allow customers to apply anaerobic adhesives by dipping or brushing parts Metal particles will contaminate the adhesive in the container causing polymerisation Any parts of dispensing machines which come into contact with anaerobic adhesives must be manufactured from plastic, PTFE or stainless steel

RITE-LOK™ UV adhesive formulations contain monomers and photoinitiators When exposed to UV light, photoinitiators change into free radicals Free radicals stimulate the formation of chains of monomers and the adhesive cures

Some plastics only allow a little UV light penetration Some substrates may contain UV absorbent films/chemicals Protect uncured adhesives from light Keep the cap on the container when not in use Keep in the supplied container Match the lamp wavelength to the photo-initiator of the product This will ensure a tack-free surface for potting and coating applications Beware of shadow areas where the UV light can not penetrate to the bond line
