Dinosaurs By: Jason W. Gager
2
Introduction Dinosaurs were either herbivores or carnivores. They have been extinct for millions of years. We study their fossils to learn all that we can about them.
3
Their Habitat They had the whole earth to themselves. They migrated to stay in warm climates and in search of food. Some lived in the oceans while others lived on land.
4
Scientific Names The names we use for the dinosaurs today were chosen and given to them by scientists as they discovered their fossils. The large fossil to the right is a Tyrannosaurus Rex. The smaller fossils in front of him are Velociraptors.
5
Extinction Scientists believe that the dinosaurs we study all died off millions of years ago when a large meteor fell from space. This meteor hit the ground and made a large dust cloud which cooled off the earth, blocking the sunlight from reaching the ground. The dinosaurs died of the cold and lack of food as nothing new could grow without the sun.
