Role play 1 – Love Food Hate Waste Resident - “It is not my fault I waste food: the supermarket sells me multi-packs of things I only want one of, and gives me 2 for 1 deals”

Role play 1 – Love Food Hate Waste Volunteer - Even when a supermarket deal gives you more food than you can eat, there is no need to throw anything out: store the remainder in your fridge or freezer and plan its use into your meals over the following week. It is a good idea to plan your meals every week in any case – it will save you money in the long term.

Role play 2 – Home Composting Resident - “it is too much effort to compost”

Role play 2 – Home Composting Volunteer – a cold compost heap actually requires very little time or effort. As long as you keep seeds or weed roots out, it is just a case of putting the ingredients in as you produce them, and leaving them to rot on their own. It will also stop your kitchen bin from smelling.

Summary ● Plan your event –Audience –Logistics –Variety ● Know your stuff ● Be friendly, polite and approachable ● Identify with each resident’s knowledge and situation ● Have fun!
