3. We are going to slice this pizza into equal sized pieces. These pieces are called fractions.

4. First we will slice it into 2 equal sized pieces. Click on the cutter to slice the pizza. Each piece is called a half.

5. 1 whole pizza has been split into 2 equal pieces We write it like this. 1 whole pizza 2 equal pieces

6. We can do this with other shapes and objects too.

7. Click on the shape that is cut in half

10. Click on the butterfly that is half shaded in.

11. We can do this with numbers as well 1 2 of2=1 1 2 4 =2

12. 1 2 2=1 is the same as… Cutting these numbers in half is the same as dividing them by 2. 2:-2=1 These give us the same answer.
