3 Motocross Explosion In 1971, the AMA conducted a professional motocross race on a temporary track at Daytona International Speedway. –American Motorcycle Association Starting the Motocross Revolution in America Today

4 Motocross Changes After the crowds grew for the events, the racing style changed. Bigger jumps, and longer courses were designed New facilities were available to race: Stadiums, Public Race Tracks, etc

5 The Rules A Multi lap race involving 10-100 motorcycle racers on a predisgned course Each race begins with all racers in starting blocks, behind a gate. When the Gate drops the race begins

6 Race Specifics Each race will differ based on the class of the racers –Class based upon motor size, and rider ability There is no caution laps as in Nascar for injuries or accidents Individual speeds can quickly reach 80 mph

7 Sport Progression The Sport’s popularity is growing tremendously Many popular riders include : –Ricky Carmichael –James “Bubba” Stewart –Travis Pastrana –And many more
