Plaster Body Cast

You can create a body cast of a hand or foot with the plaster gauze We will use a glove over the hand and saran wrap over the leg, arm and foot (instead of Vaseline) The final hand or foot should be kept on your shelf in the classroom until completed (painted later)

Plaster Body Cast The final cast hand/foot should be free-standing You can stuff it with paper towels to help it keep its shape

Plaster Body Cast Step 1 –Cover your hand with a glove, or use plastic wrap to cover your foot (cover part of your arm or leg that will be cast as well) Step 2 –Cut the plaster wrap in strips and cover your hand/foot as you did with your Giacometti sculpture Step 3 –Wait for the plaster to set (dry almost completely)

Step 4 –Carefully cut along the side of the hand/foot to release the plaster Step 5 –Gently pull your hand/foot free from the plaster Step 6 –Stuff the cast hand/foot with paper towel to help it keep its shape. Seal up the cut with extra plaster. Allow it to dry completely before painting

Plaster Body Cast Store the plaster cast hand/foot on your shelf until dry. The complete plaster cast hand/foot can be painted and decorated
