3 Different Markets Loughborough Retail Markets Every Thursday Every Saturday Farmers Market (2 nd Wednesday of the month except November ) Bric a Brac Market (Every Friday,6 th March till 11 th December 2009 Shepshed Market (Every Friday) French Markets (12 th & 14 th June, 11 th December 2009) Christmas Craft Market (11 th December 2009) We also are responsible for the operation of the Loughborough street Fair in November

4 Loughborough Retail Markets Every Thursday & Saturday Loughborough Market These outdoor retail markets are held in the Market Place and adjacent Streets of the Town Centre every Thursday & Saturday. Operational hours for the markets are approx 7.00am – 5.00pm. With approximately 125 traders in attendance selling a wide range of fresh produce including Fruit, Veg, Fish, Meat, Poultry and cheeses, together with a wide variety of food such as whole foods, confectionery, sweets, nuts, dried fruit, spices, tinned products, drinks, refreshments and take-away food. In addition, there are stalls selling a full range of clothing from hosiery, underwear, baby/children’s wear, footwear, fashion, knitwear, menswear and outer clothing. These stalls are complimented with a comprehensive range of traders selling such commodities as household/kitchen goods, fabrics, cosmetics, bedding and soft furnishings to name but a few. In all there are over 60 types of goods on offer providing excellent quality and value for money. Budding new market traders may get useful advice on the law, tax and insurance from the National Market Traders Federation.

6 Farmers Market 2 nd Wednesday of the month (Except November -1 st weds) Held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month except November, which is on the first Wednesday (4th November 2009) due to the Loughborough Street Fair. Dependant upon seasonal variations, the market has approximately 15 - 20 traders attending. Operating hours are between 9.00am- 2.00pm. Producers from across the Midlands come to Loughborough's Farmers Market to sell a wide range of interesting, organic and healthy food and drink. The overall quality of products on offer is of an excellent standard and includes such items as; poultry, various types of meat (including Ostrich meat), local wine, bread, fruit and Veg, homemade sauces, cheeses, honey, eggs, homemade chutneys/pickles/jams and therapeutic products to name but a few. Dates for your Diary in 2009 - 8th April,13th May,10th June,8th July,12th August,9th September,14th October,4th November, and 9th December. Stallholders bring a wealth of expert knowledge about their specialised products and are happy to offer information to customers about how the produce has been grown/reared, as well as offering advice about the best way to prepare and cook them.

8 Bric a Brac Market Every Friday (March 6 th to December 11 th 2009) This specialised Market is held in Devonshire Square, Loughborough each Friday from March through to December. Operating hours are between 8.30am & 4.00pm. This popular, bustling and interesting Market usually has between 15 – 35 traders in attendance and offers an excellent selection of Bric-a-Brac including antiques, books, second-hand and collector's items for sale. It also offers the opportunity for members of the public to sell their unwanted household items. You never know, it may lead to you becoming a regular stallholder. The market is an ideal way to pass away time browsing through the many interesting items and watching out for those collectable articles required to complete a set.

10 Shepshed Market Every Friday Shepshed Market is a popular attraction and provides an excellent amenity for the resident’s ad neighbouring villages. It is held every Friday in Hallcroft next to the public library and the cooperative Store. There are a variety of trades represented including Fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants, greetings cards, ladies clothing, fashion, homemade cakes and biscuits, pet foods and accessories and a key cutting service. In addition there is the opportunity for charities to a have a stall position to sell goods to raise funds. Nearby there is plenty of parking space for market visitors and market traders. Hours for trading are approximately from 7.00 am to 4.00 pm. For prospective market traders looking for a stall positions we have a number of potential vacancies dependant upon what stallholders may which to sell.

11 French Markets 12th & 14th June,11th December 2009 Three ‘specialised ‘French markets are presently held in the Market Place, Loughborough each year. Two are held in the middle of June with one held alongside the Streets Alive Festival and the other in Mid December when it is combined with a Christmas Craft market.

12 Christmas Craft Market 11th December 2009 Offering an exciting range of sumptuous food including cheese, meats, vegetables, fruit, confectionary and take-away meals cooked on the spot. The Christmas Craft market compliments the French market with over 40 stallholders selling a fabulous selection of craft items including seasonal decorations, greeting cards, pictures, glassware, pottery, jewellery, Xmas trees, wreaths etc.
