Sabina Dietrick OPEN DATA FOR HOMESTEAD AND WEST HOMESTEAD DATA LIBERATION TEAMS

Students will work directly with the borough managers of Homestead (Ian McMeans) and West Homestead (Kyle Thauvette) through the Capstone Seminar (or FEIR). The two municipalities are eager for students to be involved in helping them to build their civic capacity. Students will meet the borough managers, tour the borough "office," and walk the communities with the borough managers to learn how conditions and public data is currently kept in what form. Baseline assessment will be available of current status/methodology for tax delinquent properties (local, school, county); building inspection; nuisance complaints; property complaints; taxes payment system; fee payment system for each borough.

Students will engage in a number of datasets in the municipalities that will be transformed digitally. Students will meet with borough officials to learn about potential apps of significant value. Project will assist municipalities with enhanced technology.
