7 OCCI: Clark Arctic Research Initiative Three themes: What are the regional and global effects of changes in the Arctic on sea ice extent, ocean circulation and climate? What are the regional and global effects of changes in the Arctic on sea ice extent, ocean circulation and climate? What are the implications of these changes on: 1) permafrost surrounding the Arctic Ocean, 2) river chemistry and flow, 3) nutrient and carbon transport from the land to the sea, and 4) coastal erosion and sediment transport? What are the implications of these changes on: 1) permafrost surrounding the Arctic Ocean, 2) river chemistry and flow, 3) nutrient and carbon transport from the land to the sea, and 4) coastal erosion and sediment transport? What are the current and likely future effects on ecosystems within and beyond the Arctic? What are the current and likely future effects on ecosystems within and beyond the Arctic?
