“THE SOLAR NEBULAR THEORY”
2
A huge nebula condenses under its own weight due to gravitational attraction.
3
contracting, rotating, spinning and begins to flatten into a disk The nebula is contracting, rotating, spinning and begins to flatten into a disk.
4
The sun forms in the center and rocky material collides, forming bigger and bigger clumps that become the planets. This process of clumping together is called accretion.
5
The sun contracts, and begins to shine. Nuclear fusion has taken place. Intense solar radiation called the “ T- Tauri Wind ” blows away un-accreted gas and dust, clearing away extra debris from the planets. This reduces impact collisions!
6
The Sun begins to burn hydrogen and the planets complete their formation. Our solar system is made up of one star, 8 planets, an asteroid belt, 166 moons, several dwarf planets, comets and icy, rocky bodies in the Kuiper Belt at the outermost region of our system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uhy1fucSRQI
