Repaso de Mandatos Afirmativos To make a positive tú command, use the él/ella/Ud. Form of the present indicative tense –Speak: Habla –Write: Escribe –Play (a sport): Juega Irregulars (Remember the Ding Dong Song!) –Di (decir), haz (hacer), pon (poner), ve (ir AND ver) –Sal (salir), sé (ser), ten (tener), ven (venir)

Repaso de Mandatos Negativos To form a negative command: –Yo form in present indicative tense –Drop the –o –Add the opposite tú ending -AR verbs go to –es -Er/-IR verbs go to –as –Don’t buy No compres –Don’t ask for/order No pidas (yo form is pido)

Repaso de Mandatos Negativos The Irregulars from the Ding Dong Song are NOT irregular in the negative with the exception of ir and ser –Decir: digo no digas –Hacer: hago no hagas –Poner: pongo no pongas –Salir: salgo no salgas –Tener: tengo no tengas –Venir: vengo no vengas

Commands with DOPs With affirmative (positive) commands, the DOP will be attached directly to the end of the command –Note: The original stress is maintained. In order to keep the stress, you will need to add an accent mark. –You will need to count back three vowels and add the accent on the third. BE CAREFUL! Doesn’t always work!

Commands with DOPs Bring it! (singular, masc.) –¡Tráelo! Eat them! (plural, fem.) –¡Cómelos! Study it! (sing, masc.) –¡Estúdialo! –Note-this one you need to count back 4 vowels because the ia combination forms a dipthong!

Commands with DOPs With negative commands, the DOP goes in front of the command, independent of the verb. Don’t look at me! –¡No me mires! Don’t put it (fem.) there! –¡No la pongas allí!
