 Personal evangelism was the pattern of life for those who experienced salvation  Andrew shared it with his brother Simon Peter  Philip found Nathaniel and told him about Jesus  After Pentecost the Christains witnessed daily  Jesus told the first evangelist:  Mar 5:18 And when he was getting into the boat, the man in whom had been the evil spirits had a great desire to come with him.  Mar 5:19 And he would not let him, but said to him, Go to your house, to your friends, and give them news of the great things the Lord has done for you, and how he had mercy on you.

 “Many churches are using all kinds of gimmick approaches, spectacular events, marketing techniques and innovative and creative approaches to attract people to their meeting and gain members. However, personal evangelism is still the basic biblical method for reaching the lost”.

Mass evangelism becomes effective as individual Christians share Christ with their families and acquaintances and bring them to the evangelistic event. Therefore, personal and mass evangelism are complementary as sowing the seed and harvesting are complementary

 Some Christians have come to believe that their life is their witness.  They feel that if the live an upright life and go to church, this constitutes their witness.  What is the power of God unto salvation: The Gospel or the lives we live?  The lives you and I live plus the words we speak equal our witness.

 In the Gospels and the book of Acts, Jesus emphasized that evangelizing the lost is the assignment of every Christian.  Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:  Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  Luke 24:48 And ye are witnesses of these things.

 Personal evangelism is based on foundational spiritual and biblical principles that guide and motivate Christians in witnessing.  Winning people to Christ is a human impossibility.  The Holy Spirit draws lost people to Christ and then performs the miracle of spiritual transformation.  But He uses the instrumentality of those who have experienced salvation to share their personal witness, present the gospel of Christ and guide the lost through the conversion experience.

The human race is under the dominion and rule of sin separated from God and without hope apart from Christ. Romans 3:9, 23

God loves each person and has provided for the salvation of everyone. Romans 2:4

God desires to save and seeks to save every person. 1 John 2:2

God has chosen to give the message of salvation through those who have experienced what they share.

 Christians are on a team of three that God uses to reach the lost for Christ.  God uses the Word of God, the work of the Holy Spirit and the witness of the believer.

 The Word of God pierces deep into the heart and mind of a lost person to reveal Christ. (Romans 10:17)  If God by a miracle wrought faith in the heart, he could dispense with the preacher. But the divine arrangement is that it should result from hearing the word of God preached.

 The Word of God is the sword of the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 6:17  The Holy Spirit uses the Word to draw the lost to Christ and to convict and convert.(John 16:8)

 As the Holy Spirit draws and convicts the person, the believer may have the opportunity to be used of the Spirit to guide the person through the conversion experience.  Case in point: The Ethiopian eunuch!

 Spiritual Preparation – Salvation comes before soul winning.  NOTE: Spiritual preparation includes one having assurance of his or her own salvation.

 Love for Jesus and love for people  Loving people causes the Christian witness to be sensitive to the lost--to their needs, concerns and feelings. Loving people is Christ like.

 Personal Preparation  The witness for Christ must clearly know the content of the gospel.  Scripture study and memorization is needed to be able to share Christ in a meaningful way.  If people are offended let it be an offence of the gospel and conviction of the Holy Spirit and not the thoughtlessness of the personal witness

 Regardless of the method used to reach people, a passion for souls is the critical factor for personal evangelism.  Personal evangelism is fire in the soul.  It is not brow beating, arm twisting and manipulating people with the gospel.  It is a free, unhindered flow of the gospel from the life of a Christian to a lost person.

 Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.  (CEV) When the good news about the kingdom has been preached all over the world and told to all nations, the end will come.
