3. What does the passage actually say? Words Setting (when and where) Purpose Context Form (history, law, poetry, prophecy, letter etc.) What does the passage mean today? What is a similar situation today? A specific teaching about God etc.? Is there an example to follow, or a warning, or a promise? What actions need to be taken? What does the passage mean?
