16 Underserved Children Children who: live below the poverty line are reading below grade level are English language learners live in rural areas children who are unable to use the library, like children in daycare or those who do not have transportation.

17 Underserved Children Libraries must: have a community partner plan at least two programs targeting underserved children to be held outside the library during summer reading program (June, July, and August). Apply on-line by March 18

19 Meet with school principal and school librarian. Develop a promotion plan that describes what the school and library will each do to increase student participation, and set a participation goal. Submit the school’s Idaho Reading Indicator scores. Track school’s student participation in Summer Library Programs. Plan a collaborative recognition event in the fall for students who completed the SRP. Submit a follow-up report by September 15, 2011. Libraries can partner with up to three schools.
