The Sun is nearly 600 times larger than all the planets in our Solar System put together. The sun is the center of the Solar System. All the planets revolve around the sun.

Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. It has the fastest rotation out of all the planets. Mercury has no moons or rings. Mercury has a lot of craters because it doesn’t have enough atmosphere to protect the surface from meteoroids, asteroids, and comets.

Venus has no moons or no rings. It is called Earth’s twin because it is the closest to its size and shape. It also has an atmosphere like Earth’s.

Earth has a lot of water so they sometimes call it the Blue Planet. The Earth has one moon and no rings. The Earth has one moon and no rings. It takes 365 days to rotate around the sun. It takes 365 days to rotate around the sun. The Earth is always changing. The Earth is always changing. The Earth is tilted at an angle of 23.5 that is why we have seasons.

Mars has two moons and no rings. At night it is the only Planet with a red glow. The color comes from the iron soil it has. Mars has the biggest volcano in the Solar System it is called Olympus Mons. It is eighteen miles high.

Jupiter is the biggest planet in the Solar System. Jupiter has 16 moons and 2 rings. For Jupiter to rotate around the sun it takes twelve Earth years.

Saturn is the second biggest planet in our Solar System. Saturn has 18 moons and 7 major rings. It was named after the Roman God of the harvest. Saturn’s rings are made of billions of bits of icy debris.

Uranus takes 17 Earth hours for one day. It takes 84 Earth years to orbit all the way around the sun. Uranus has 17 moons and 11 rings that are tilted to it’s side.

Neptune is the eight planet from the sun. It’s rotation for one day is about sixteen Earth hours. It has eight moons and four rings. For it to rotate around the sun it takes about 164 Earth years.

Pluto is known as the ice planet. It is the ninth planet from the sun. It has one moon and no rings. The rotation for one day takes about six Earth days. The rotation for one year takes about 248 Earth years.

Stars are huge balls of glowing gases. Stars are huge balls of glowing gases. As a star gets older it changes, temperature gets warmer. When the stars get older they are a blue and white mixture. Middle aged stars are yellow and not as hot, because they have a lot of hydrogen fuel.

The Solar System is a collection of planets and other spinning, speedy objects revolving around a medium-sized star located in the Milky Way Galaxy. The Solar System contains nine planets and the sun.

The World’s largest known meteorite- named Hoba- was discovered in 1920 on a farm in Namibia, a country in Southwest Africa. A meteorite is when a big enough rock travels through the atmosphere without burning up.

Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong were the first American people to reach the Moon. The Moon’s orbit around the Earth takes 27 Earth days. The Moon rotates very slowly on it’s axis at exactly at the same amount of time to go around the sun.

Comets are dirty snowballs. A Comet is a dirty snowball that travels through the atmosphere without burning up. Comets that come into the inner Solar System travel around the Sun in elliptical orbit.

Some Asteroids are made up of rock similar to the rocks you find on Earth. Other Asteroids contain a lot of carbon the same thing your pencil led you write with witch makes them very dark.

Earth is the only planet that water covers two- thirds of Earth’s surface. 250 million years ago all of Earth’s continents were joined together in one large land mass called Pangaea which means all Earth.

There are many types of galaxies. The first galaxy is the spiral galaxy. They turn in space but take a million years to go around once. The second galaxy is the irregular galaxy. They have no special shape and they will eventually turn into stars.

The third galaxy is the elliptical galaxy. They are an oval shaped galaxy. The galaxy contains the Milky Way. There are about 100 billion stars in the galaxy.
