Igneous Rocks Formed by cooling and solidifying lava or magma Can form above (extrusive) or below (intrusive) ground. Examples include obsidian, granite, and scoria. Next

Sedimentary Rocks Formed by the deposition of material on the surface or under water. Examples include sandstone, conglomerate, and breccia. Next

Metamorphic Rocks Form by the metamorphism of existing rocks. This change happens because of heat, pressure, or chemicals. Examples include shale, slate, and amphibolite. Next
