32. RULES OVERVIEW: Volunteer Coaches and Student-Athlete Fee-For-Lesson September 2009

33. Volunteer Coach ► May not engage in off-campus recruiting activities (e.g. contacts, evaluations). ► May transport a prospective student-athlete from the bus station, train station or airport on the occasion of his/her Official Visit. ► May participate in Official Visit meals on or off campus. ► May transport a prospective student-athlete from the bus station, train station or airport on the occasion of his/her initial arrival at Virginia Tech to attend classes.

34. Volunteer Coach May receive the following benefits: ► Transportation, meals and lodging in conjunction with away-from-home competition. ► Pre- and post-game meals. ► Meals associated with an Official Visit. ► Occasional meals. ► Two complimentary admissions to home contests in his/her sport. ► Items incidental to coaching duties (e.g. shoes, shirts, jackets, shorts).

35. Volunteer Coach ► Limit of one designated volunteer coach per sport at any given time.

36. Fee-For-Lesson Guidelines A student-athlete may receive compensation for teaching or coaching sport skills or techniques in his/her sport on a fee-for-lesson basis, provided all of the following conditions are met: ► Virginia Tech facilities are not used; ► The student-athlete does not use his/her name, picture or appearance to promote or advertise the availability of fee-for-lesson sessions; ► Compensation is paid by the lesson recipient or the recipient’s family, and not another individual or entity; and ► Documentation is kept on file related to the recipient(s) of the lesson(s) and the fee(s) paid.
