Presentation Summary Member Biographies Design Methodology Problems and Solutions Team Conclusions

Biographies Matthew Brooks 3 rd semester Sophomore EE but I might change to CE or ME This class has shown me the many opportunities available in Engineering. I plan to join an engineering club and take part in projects and competitions Graduate UF with a bachelors in some form of engineering Never be afraid to get your feet wet.

Biographies Brian Clarke 1 st semester Freshman Electrical Engineering Major This class has given me insight into what engineering involves Problems/Solutions Tools/Techniques I’m planning to get into the lab and involved in some projects or research I’d like to work for a big company and have the ability to travel to work on various international projects Do well early in college, but take time to have fun. Football games, Basketball games (FREE) Intramurals, clubs, organizations, events, etc.

Biographies Troy Grant

Biographies Jennifer Griffith-Delgado 3 rd semester Sophomore Formerly a PR major, now EE I've learned about problem solving, basics of circuits, and how to make robots 'smarter' by actually doing it myself In the future, I want to get involved with some projects and hopefully build my own robot (amongst other things) At UF, I want to get involved with MIL and IEEE. I also want to eventually do an REU and/or have an internship or two before I graduate.

Biographies Jennifer Griffith-Delgado (cont'd) Career plans? I want to have a job someday that lets me keep learning about and building electronics. I also want to develop open source hardware projects, like this one: Uzebox!Uzebox! Hmm...wisdom? Take a class in your major as soon as possible so you can figure out if that's really where you want to be for four years or more.

Biographies And...Our robot, The Nail!

The Nail's latest accomplishment: conquering the maze

Design Methodology (or how we got our robot through the maze) Our major method was trial and error We used all of the sensors available IR sensors to avoid walls Photocell to determine where to stop and play sound Things we tried but had to change Using each IR sensor by itself to decide which way to turn Checking the photocell resistance level before anything else

Team Conclusions We learned a lot about basic electrical components and how some everyday electronic devices work We gained hands-on experience programming robots, bread-boarding, soldering, and using oscilloscopes Take advantage of opportunities to get hands-on experience because that's the best part of engineering

The End! And now for your amusement: The Blooper Reel :) (because a robot is only as smart as you program it to be...and no programmer is perfect)
