3. Admission Criteria Acceptance to the University, completion of preliminary course work, GPA, satisfactory TEAS scores does not guarantee admission to the BSN program. Admission is a competitive process

29. CPR Prior to enrollment all students must complete the Basic Life Support for Health Care Professionals course offered by the American Heart Association. Costs vary. May range from $35 to $50.

30. Immunizations Students must have the following immunization for admittance to ASU : DTP or Tdap -3 doses, Polio –3 doses, Measles and Mumps – 2 doses, Rubella -1 dose. In addition, the nursing program requires:  A 2 step TB test (PPD) – Annually, Varicella (Chicken Pox) – 2 doses or titer, Hepatitis B -3 doses. Influenza vaccine is highly recommended. 31. Criminal Background Checks and Drug Screening Clinical agencies may require students to have criminal background checks and drug screens. The agencies make the determination if students will be permitted to attend clinical at their agency. If a suitable placement cannot be found for a student, they will be dismissed from the program.

32. Criminal Background Checks and Drug Screening Criminal background checks cost approximately $25, drug screens cost approximately $40 - $50 dollars. Specific information regarding criminal background checks and drug screens will be provided in the provisional acceptance letter. DO NOT obtain prior to acceptance into the program.
