Regular school attendance is essential for the student to make the most of his or her education. Attendance is taken at 9:30 a.m. Students not at school at 9:30 are counted absent for the entire day. Generally speaking, students are allowed one day to complete work for each day absent. Students will be considered tardy if they are not in their class when the tardy bell rings at 7:50 a.m. Students tardy to school must be checked in by their parent. Tardies count and will impact Attendance Awards.

 FSHE School Day - 7:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Students are tardy if not in their classroom by 7:50 a.m.  7:50 – Morning Program  8:00 – Specials  8:50 – Social Studies ( Texas History)  9:30- Math  10:35- Lunch  11:10- Science  12:00- Specials  12:45 – Recess  1:00: English/Language Arts and Writing  2:15 – 2:45 – Enrichment/RTI  2:55 - Dismissal

 Your child’s report card will have one conduct grade.  E – 0-1 negative write-ups  S - 2-5 negative write-ups  N – 6-9 negative write-ups  U – 10 or more negative write-ups  Office trip – “N” for the nine weeks  Suspension – “U” for the nine weeks

 Our grading policy is stated in the Student/Parent Handbook. It is as follows:  69 or below - F  70 - 74 - D  75 - 79 - C  80 - 89 – B  90 - 100 - A  Reports Cards go home four times a year at the end of each quarter. Progress Reports go home every three weeks following the first grading quarter and additional reports may go home as needed. Please also be an advocate for your child and check their grades as often as possible online. You can set the program up to receive an email every time your child’s average drops below a certain percentage. Please sign all progress reports and return them to the teacher the next school day.

Make up work that is to be recorded in the grade book will be completed in the school setting – unless it’s otherwise impossible, due to time constraints and new material being introduced. Students may also be assigned to attend afterschool instructional recovery if they are unable to complete missed or late assignments during the school day on more than one attempt. The campus expectation is that all required assignments will be completed by the student. Excused assignments will be recorded in the grade book as “exc” and are not counted for or against the student’s average. Missing assignments will be recorded in the grade book as “msg” and calculated as a zero. The number of assignments to be made up is at the discretion of the teacher as long as an appropriate representation of the student’s ability is obtained.  Instructional Recovery may also be used for completion of missing assignments.

 Grading opportunities in this plan are agreed upon by the grade level and will include the following categories:  Principal Plan Assignments  Principal Plan Tests  Teacher Assigned

 Final grades in ELA shall be comprised of a minimum of 14 grades. 7 core Spelling tests will be combined and averaged for 1 of the 14 ELA grades.

 Final grades in Math, Science, and Social Studies will be comprised of a minimum of 10 grades equally weighted.

 Reteach / Re-grade Opportunities are given for failing grades. If you see a “redo/return” on the top of a paper, your child will have the opportunity to raise their grade to a MAXIMUM of 70% if the child redoes the paper and obtains a parent signature. If your student earns a grade below 70% on their first attempt of an assignment (not tests), they are permitted to obtain further instruction and then redo the assignment for a maximum grade of 70%. This requires a parent signature Everyone will use cScope assessments

 Agendas (daily – sticker and/or comments)  E-Chalk webpage  Phone calls  Parent-Teacher Conferences (to discuss progress and any concerns scheduled by either the teacher or parent)  School-wide generated letters.  Nurse (medical concerns)  Other teachers/staff (specials, cafeteria)

Thank you so much for coming! I look forward to working with you this year and watching your student succeed!!!
