Griffith and actors Douglas Fairbanks and Charlie Chaplin, of United Artists Corporation. Clark Gable Clark Gable was an American motion-picture actor whose films included It Happened One Night (1934),Mutiny on the Bounty (1935), and The Misfits (1961). He is probably best known for his portrayal of Rhett Butler in the film Gone With the Wind (1939).
