3. Body Parts of the Common Skate These are the eyes of a Common Skate. This is the tail witch has spikes on it. This is the mouth that is used to send out radio waves to find food.

4. Description The Common Skate is the largest European ray. The undersurface is dark grey with black stripes or spots and the upper surface is more of a greenish brown color often with lighter mottling. The snout is pointed and the flattened body has a rhombic shape with sharp corners. A slightly concave outer edges to the wings. There is a row of 12 to 18 thorns along the tail.

5. What is their habitat and what do they eat??? It occurs over firm ground in coastal shelf waters, from depths down to 200 meters. It eats oysters, crabs, and many different kinds of fish. Their main predator is man.

6. A Map of Where They are Located This is a map of Animalia. It is also located around the United Kingdom, North sea, English Channel, Irish Sea, West Coast of Ireland, Westland of Scotland Isles too.

7. Reasons Endangered They get caught by fisherman.They get sold all around the world to people. They get sold as food. They also get sold as bait too. Some people frame them for decoration in a beach theme house. Also just for fun to be mean.

8. Interesting Facts The scientific names for the Common skate are Raja Batis and Dipturus Batis. The common skate is related to the shark but it doesn’t look like it or it doesn’t have anything really in common

9. View Point The Common skate should be taken care of more because they are neat and interesting because they are fun to learn about. They are a cool group of rays.
