2 How To Dress Want to layer because you can always remove layers as needed. –Allows you to take into consideration Weather Terrain Type of activity –Each layer helps to trap air Hat – Helps to regulate your temperature easier.

3 Layer, Layer, Layer Wicking Insulating Shell The layers are for: 1. Wicking – taking moisture away 2. Insulating – keeps warmth in 3. Shell – protects against wind/rain COTTON KILLS! – AVOID IT! Once it gets wet, it stays wet!

4 Head, Hands, and Feet Head Feet Hands Mittens vs Gloves  Pay attention to boot ratings  Lower the rating, the warmer the boot Ear muffs and ear bands are not enough

5 Daily Points Be on time where we are meeting for class. Please check itinerary! You must have a hat/hood for every class period! You need to have on proper attire: –Top –Bottom – snowpants!! You will be “sitting” in the snow! –Footwear At the end of class time meet in classroom or where indicated by instructor.

6 Other Points Participation (5) –Are you participating the entire class time? –Less participation, means less points Conduct (5) –Using equipment properly –Storing equipment properly –Appropriate language –Showing respect toward instructor & classmates

7 Extra Credit If you have your own equipment for: –Cross country skiing –Downhill skiing –Ice skating –Snowshoeing –Ice fishing If you wear mittens or gloves Be sure to notify me when you bring in your own equipment!
