Tentative Not final Adjective When the poor, unknowing little girl noticed the gorilla statue, her steps became tentative to such an extent that she would stop for minutes at a time to simply stare in fear.

Provocative Exciting; attracting attention Adjective The unusual sculpture was provocative to such an extent that it had to be relocated to a less noticable location.
