4.  Revisit the Value of the Essay  Now is the time to talk about how the issues discovered in Victorian times are still applicable to today.  Restate the Thesis and review main points  Concluding Statement: Leave the reader thinking COMPONENTS OF A CONCLUSION

5.  The last part of the prompt is, “… that applies to the Victorian time period as well as society today.”  Remember, this is a THEMATIC essay, so why has writing about your theme mattered?  For example, if you’re writing about fear, why is it important to read texts that talk to us about how to deal with fear? REVISIT VALUE OF THE ESSAY

6.  The thesis and the restatement of the thesis are cousins, not identical twins: They share key similarities, but they still look and sound like separate individuals.  Make sure the restatement looks and sounds different from the thesis.  Review main points, but do not give a summary of all of them. RESTATE THE THESIS AND REVIEW MAIN POINTS

7.  Now is not the time to introduce new arguments.  Instead, writers might want to extend the reader's understanding on the argument by showing new aspects of the "big picture.”  Discuss what the future would look like if the situation remains the same  Refer back to an anecdote or hook that was used in the introduction paragraph  Take some time to be creative in this part of the conclusion  Find a way to add an artistic, creative but focused element to the ending. 9. Though a noble notion, conquering our biggest fears is often easier said than done. Certainly, there are times when cowering sounds better than fighting, but it is important to realize that we are not thrown more than we can handle; that the conflict and the strain on our psyches actually fortifies us to tackle the unexpected (Revisit value). Had Katniss not volunteered for her sister, she might have never realized that she was capable of being the symbol of freedom; if Scout had been less brave, her father might have been attacked by the mob, and if Hazel didn’t find the good in Gus’ death, she might have let the fear of living ruin her chance at a happy life. (Restate points) When faced with impossible obstacles, you can choose to hide, or you can choose to fight. Though young in age, the three females of these novels prove that working through your fears can actually make you stronger and more mature in the end. (Concluding Statement) SAMPLE CONCLUSION
