One of the most famous American painters of the 1900’S…. Proved that women could be a successful artist Born near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin – lived on a dairy farm By the time she was 11 years old she was passionate about art and her parents took her to weekly art lessons…. But that wasn’t so easy……

The Early 1900’s By the time Georgia was 12 she new she wanted to be an artist…. She studied at the Chicago Art Institute and Art Students League in New York City Her teachers style was very IMPRESSIONIST and she grew very frustrated…she new there had to be more than one way….

Georgia moves out West Eventually Georgia studied under Wesley Dow who inspired his student to paint using emotion She supported herself as a teacher eventually heading out west… “…which was something I’d wanted all my life and I was beside myself. The openness…the beauty of the wild world”

Steps to Complete Cut along the circle to Create Sun Write your name in clay w/# on back Soften the edges or cut if you choose Lay sun over cotton balls on plate Draw your suns face using your knife. Use the scraps to create eyebrows, lips, nose, eyes etc… Make sure hole is at top……
