The Temple Genesis 2:21-25 21 So the L ORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh. 22 And the rib that the L ORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man.

The Temple—Take-Aways 1. Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial (v. 12-14) a. “soma” = body, the whole body b. We are not meant for a non-marital union with anyone but Christ c. There may be excitement and enjoyment in sexual experiences outside of marriage, but there is not enrichment.

The Temple—Take-Aways 2. We are spiritual and physical members of Christ (v15-17) a. God the Father created our bodies; God the Son redeemed them and made them part of His body; and God the Spirit indwells our bodies and makes them the temple of God

The Temple—Take-Aways 2. We are spiritual and physical members of Christ (v15-17) b. “porne” = prostitute descriptive of a non- marital union c. When you have a sexual union with another, who is not God’s chosen partner for you, you are practicing Idolatry.

The Temple—Take-Aways 3.Your body is a dwelling place for God. (v.18-19) a. Our body is the temple of the Lord and joining it with a harlot is a direct attack on that holy temple. b. It is a spiritual attack directly against the dwelling place of the Holy Ghost.

The Temple—Take-Aways 4. God specializes in Redemption. (v.20) 2 Corinthians 5:16-21 19 that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
