l Natural disasters will weaken the Roman Empire l These plagues hurt those who worship the beast. Since that is the Roman Empire, this is not about the end of time.

ACT II 7 Bowls Poured Out l 5 th Bowl l Throne of the Beast is Darkened l The corruption from the leader of the Roman Empire will bring destruction

l 6 th Bowl l Dries up the Euphrates River to allow kings (armies) to come. l Suggests the outside attacks that will destroy Rome.

ACT II 7 Bowls Poured Out l Attacks by the Goths, Visigoths, Vandals, and Huns were major factors in the fall of Rome. l Rome came to its final end about 475 AD

ACT II 7 Bowls Poured Out l The first six bowls, then, predict the downfall of the persecutor the Roman Empire by three means: l Natural Disasters l Internal Decay l Outside Attack

Interlude l A dragon, a 7-headed beast, and a beast with two horns like a lamb (false prophet) send frogs out of their mouths to l Gather kings to Armageddon

Interlude l Satan and his allies see the forces of God at work l They decide to resist l This is symbolized by their gathering Rome’s forces at a place where great O.T. battles were fought.

ACT II 7 Bowls Poured Out l 7 TH Bowl l Satan’s resistance does no good. The 7 th angels pours his bowl and a voice comes saying l It is done. It is all over.

Summation of Revelation Story 1. Church is persecuted and martyrs ask “How long until God brings the persecutor down. 2. God replies that it will be a while for more are to be martyred for the cause.

Summation of Revelation Story 3. God warns the persecutor who only starts a more intense persecution for 1260. The Roman Empire and Cult of Emperor Worship are Satan’s tools.

Summation of Revelation Story 4. After this persecution (about 200 years), God brings down the persecutor by natural disaster, the effects of its own corruption, and by outside attacks.

l So Satan’s two allies, the beast and false prophet, come to their final end. l Same point in the story as at the end of chapter 16 but 17-19 give more detail. l Main story line is now complete
