Introduction to HPV Problem Set Target Audience: Introductory Undergraduate Courses Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Public Health Objectives: To increase data literacy through graphical analysis To examine the impact of socioeconomic status and the economic factors on HPV incidence and mortality rates To increase ethical reasoning skills regarding the possibility of mandatory vaccinations Biological Principles: Certain viruses cause cancer. HPV causes many cancers including cervical, anal, penile, vaginal, and oropharyngeal. HPV-16 and HPV-18 are responsible for an overwhelming majority of these cancers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ClD1gnX nl-E https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ClD1gnX nl-E Vaccination can prevent most virally-induced cancers.
