Educational Objectives and Student Assignments 1.The student will research and discover a variety of opportunities to teach students in diverse cultures and various locations around the world. Assignment: Personal research on a minimum of 6 websites regarding teaching abroad opportunities. Compare/contrast quality of opportunities presented. Read Cultural Intelligence by Peterson.

Objectives/Assignments 2. The student will acquire specific cultural knowledge regarding the typical educational process for children ages 3 to 18 in a specific global location of personal interest. S/he will present findings to the class so that all students may benefit from the research of each classmate. Assignment: Student presentation (oral and visual) following research focused on the educational system of his/her country of choice.

The student will write a personal plan for becoming a teacher in his/her global location of choice based on his/her research Assignment: Personal travel plan with timeframe for accomplishing each personal and professional task to prepare for international teaching experience

Lectures and Discussions 1. Introduction to global teaching opportunities (photos and artifacts from instructor’s travels) 2. How does a teacher adequately prepare for an international teaching experience? (Internet and print resources, personal and practical considerations, cultural awareness, Cultural Intelligence by Peterson)

Lectures and Discussions 3. Understanding cultural differences in the educational process: Discussion of case studies from schools in various nations and film, Please Vote for Me: An Experiment in Democracy by Chinese 8 Year- olds by Weijun Chen
