get Collocations get + past participle (grammar pattern 6). Some of the moost frequent past particples in this pattern are: rid (of), involved (in/with), married, started, dressed, stuck, lost. get + to-infinitive (grammar pattern 9): some of the most frequent infinitives are: to know, to hear, to see. get combines with adverb particles to form phrasal verbs: get away, get back, get in, get on, get out, get over, get up etc.

get Set phrases get it = understand. I don’t get it. Why has the traffic stopped? It gets me/what gets me is … = (it annoys me) I hate it when people correct my English. It really gets me. to get there= to achieve your goal: It’s not perfect but we are getting there.
