What advice did his mother give him on what he should do when dating? His mother gave him all kinds of advice on the date. For example, if they took the bus, he was supposed to get off the bus first, and offer Barbara his hand. Or if they had to walk on the street, he was supposed to walk on the outside. She even told him what kinds of things to say.

When I was a young fellow about thirteen, I had somehow gotten in with a group of guys who were a little older than I was, and more sophisticated. 關係代名詞 who 引導形容詞子句,修飾 a group of guys 。 sophisticated: experienced 本句的主要子句以過去完成式 had gotten 表 示「回想過去所發生的事」。
