“Tobacco Harm Reduction” DHHR finds that advocating “tobacco harm reduction” is neither an acceptable nor ethical public health practice. The tobacco industry wants to enlist the support of public health practitioners in this strategy, and want help to increase their tobacco sales by endorsing these new forms of tobacco. © 2008 WV DHHR / DTP

Primary arguments against “HR” Smokeless, spitless tobacco is definitely not harmless *associated with a number of health problems including oral, esophageal, and pancreatic cancers, other oral diseases, increased risk factors for cardiovascular disease, and risk for fetal toxicity. Better, toxin-free and regulated products currently offered having exceptional quitting success.
