7 Why was Wallace an outlaw by 1297? Fought English soldiers at Lanark. Led a group of rebel Scottish men who attacked Edward’s men. Killed Hazelrigg; the English Sherriff who killed his wife. He had not signed the Ragman Roll so not loyal to Edward. Attacked Edward’s Chief Judge Sir William Ormsby.

Robert Bruce the younger swore that he would faithfully help our King and his men against the Scots and all his enemies as far as his abilities would stretch.
