Proud Approach to God Don’t Worry I Got This (Deut. 8:11-20) Strict Obedience is the Primary Means of Salvation (Eph. 2:8-9; Gal. 6:14) Verses strict obedience being the primary way to please God (John 14:15) Do You Fear “Have You Not Read?” When you read you may understand (Eph. 3:4, Col. 4:16) Matthew 22:23-31

Proud Approach to God Scripture must pass the human reason test Make Some Matters Weightier Than Others (Matt. 23:23-24) Worship/Serve in Pretense The Pharisee and Tax Collector (Luke 18:9-14) Do Good to be Seen By Men (Matt. 6:1-4) Worship to be Seen By Men (Luke 20:45-47)

Proud Approach to the Lost Do We Want to Win a Soul or a Debate? There is no room for arrogance in evangelism Paul as an example Paul’s custom was too reasoned “from the Scriptures” (Acts 17:2) To the Unknown God (Acts 17:16-ff) I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some (1Cor. 9:19-23) I am least of all the saints (Eph. 3:8)

Proud Approach to Brethren Are We Trying to Win a Brother or a Debate? Pr 9:7-8 He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. “I Guess You Have a Problem Then” From this type person, we should turn away (2 Tim. 3:1-5) You Were Born In Your Sin, Are You Teaching Us? (John 9:34)

Proud Approach to Brethren Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. (Gal. 6:1) Pr. 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger Paul’s example over circumcision (Acts 15) No small dispute How could he have reacted when it was decided he (an apostle) should go to Jerusalem to “the apostles and elders”?

Deserving of Death (spiritual) Ro 1:28-32 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
