Achromatic – Color scheme based on white, black and varying grays

Monochromatic – Color scheme based on variations of a single hue.

Analogous – A color scheme based on hues that are adjacent to each other on the color wheel.

Complimentary – Hues that oppose one another on the color wheel. When paired in a composition, complimentary colors create contrast; when mixed, complimentary colors produce a wide range of browns.

Split Complimentary – Using the hues next to a color’s compliment in a composition. Using split compliments is easier on the eye than compliments while still being dramatically opposite in color.
