Stimulate4/MSB Suggestions to improve the program Review the contents of the program In some specific topics, like “Information and communication technology for information centers and libraries” and “Information sources”, appear certain contents that were not covered (probably because either these are the basics, or there was not enough time to incorporate them in the schedule). Dig deeply into some topics that could be useful for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) management, like: Data-communications networks Client-server systems
22
Stimulate4/MSB Strong points of the program In general, the course has so far been well– conceptualized and applied: Adherence to the planned schedule is commendable The logistics of the entire program has been good
23

24
Stimulate4/MSB Best components of the program These topics are essentially important since a great part of this knowledge would be incorporated into some projects of CAZALAC, Water Center for Arid and Semi-Arid zones Latin America and the Caribbean (www.cazalac.org).www.cazalac.org
25
Stimulate4/MSB Main recommendations STIMULATE4 Evaluation of the Students. It is important to note that in the educational process, a final evaluation or a review in terms of the advancement of knowledge of the students should be conducted. Since that, it is recommended to incorporate such evaluation into the program. Evaluation of the Professors. The principal aspects that the evaluation should contain are: Knowledge of the topics being taught Methodology used in class Ability to teach about the specialized topics
26
Stimulate4/MSB Main recommendations for CAZALAC Incorporate part of the knowledge gleaned from the course STIMULATE4, into the projects of CAZALAC that are lined up for the year 2005, specifically, in the publication of databases and metadata; topics in relation to Hydrology in the Arid Zones of Latin America and the Caribbean.

WEAK POINTS OF THE PROGRAM Unavailability of computers after lectures – I suggest that a PC room be organised for the stimulate group to use even after lectures or on weekends. Duration of course is short – suggest that the program be extended to five months in order to cover more topics and master what have been learnt.
34
STRONG POINTS OF THE PROGRAM The training helped us to obtain new skills in managing information. The Library visits - helped us to see how libraries have developed in using IT to organise, store, access and retrieve information.
35
BEST COMPONENTS Webpage Design- interesting to learn how to design a page, important for libraries to publish their activities on the web. Elementary Statistics –very important in Libraries as you can use it for different purposes e.g writing reports.
36
RECOMMENDATIONS TO Swaziland National Library Service Installation of CDS/ISIS software – as it is a free software and no maintenance costs. Purchase or subscribe to different Database companies – this will improve the collection of the library as databases are updated, and more people can use it at the same time.
