What it is In every animal-like cell there are 2 small organelles called CENTRIOLES. They help cells divide. They work in both mitosis and meiosis. Find near nucleus but can’t see if cells are not dividing. Made out of microtubules.
4
Structure Centriole is a set of microtubules put together in a specific way. Nine groups of microtubules. Are found in pairs and move towards opposite ends of nucleus.
5
When there’s no work You can not see centrioles when cells are not dividing. What you will see is a darker area of the Cytoplasm called Centrosomes.
6
Dividing Interphase is when cells are at rest. When cells divide centrioles duplicate. Prophase is when they move to opposite ends of nucleus and mitotic spindle of threads begins to appear. The threads connect to chromosomes. Anaphase is when the chromosomes split and pull towards the centriole. Telophase is when the chromosomes begin to unravel and new nuclear envelopes begin to appear.
