6 Electrical Possibilities Computer can be destroyed. Use an anti-static strap when computer is off to protect the computer from ESD (Electro Static Discharge) Do NOT use anti-static strap with any other component Must have knowledge on various components, i.e. capacitors, monitors, integrated chips BEWARE: Capacitors can hold a charge in monitors for up to a month

7 Floor Plan If working at a business, know the entrance, back exit, or fire escapes Always find out where the fire extinguishers are on the first day of working

9 Possible Injuries on the Job Electric shock – if computer or monitor is on when you are workin gon it – possible death – Burn – touching processor, overheated power supply

10 HOW and to WHOM DO YOU REPORT AN INJURY? Report any injury to the employer (internship sponsor) Report any injury to your teacher and work-based learning coordinator Report any injury to your parents Put the notice in writing and fill out any paperwork given to you for insurance claims
