CASTAING 2 REMINDER At his 29th session GRSP agreed to continue the consideration of documents TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2001/14, 15 & 16 with the proposal expected to be submitted by France This proposal is included in documents TRANS/WP.29/GRSP/2001/14, 15 & 16 Rev 1 (Informal N° 13, 14 & 15)

CASTAING 3 DRAFTING GROUP A drafting group meet in Paris the 22 & 23 October 2001 with the participation of EC, D, S, NL, UK, OICA, CLEPA and F ISO group on ISOFIX standardisation was represented by his chairman France present a first attempt to introduce anti-rotation systems in R14, R16 & R44

CASTAING 5 BASIC PRINCIPLES l “ISOFIX POSITION” *- either a system composed of an ISOFIX anchorage system *- or a system composed of an ISOFIX anchorages system + an ISOFIX top tether anchorage l “ISOFIX ANCHORAGES SYSTEM” *- The two lower anchorages designed according to ISO standard l ”ISOFIX TOP TETHER ANCHORAGE” *- The anchorage designed to accept top tether strap connector

GRSP December 2001 Session - P. CASTAING 6 REQUIREMENTS For M1 vehicles : l at least 2 ISOFIX positions * one at least on the second row l at least 2 top tether anchorages l at least one of the forward facing and one of the rearward facing ISO fixtures

GRSP December 2001 Session - P. CASTAING 8 REQUIREMENTS Exemptions : l If only one seat row, no ISOFIX position required l If it is not possible to install any of the three rearward facing ISO fixtures on rear seat row, the two ISOFIX positions can accept any of the two forward facing ISO fixtures

CASTAING 9 BASIC PRINCIPLES l "UNIVERSAL” ISOFIX CRS *- The test tool to approve this Isofix CRS is the ECE 44 bench equipped with top tether anchorage. *- Only integral forward facing CRS including 2 ISOFIX attachments and one top tether attachment. l "SEMI-UNIVERSAL” ISOFIX CRS *- The test tool to approve this Isofix CRS is the ECE 44 bench. *- any CRS including 2 ISOFIX attachments and any other feature to prevent rotation.

GRSP December 2001 Session - P. CASTAING 10 REQUIREMENTS For ISOFIX CRS : l Depending on its mass group, each ISOFIX CRS shall be within the boundary surfaces of one of the five ISO fixtures

CASTAING 11 REQUIREMENTS For any ISOFIX position in the vehicle, the car manufacturer has to declare in the owner’s manual what : categories, mass groups, types and ISO fixtures of ISOFIX CRS can be installed The categories, the mass groups and the corresponding ISO fixtures shall be marked on the packaging of each ISOFIX CRS
