Red clothing is often avoided when negotiations are necessary since it implies confrontation. Can stimulate faster heartbeat and breathing.

Blue Peace, tranquility, calm, stability, cold, harmony, trust, truth, confidence, loyalty, sky, technology, depression, order, cleanliness Thought to cause the body to produce calming chemicals and studies show that weight lifters can handle more weight in blue gyms. Wearing blue to a job interview suggests loyalty to your employer.

5. Yellow Joy, happiness, betrayal, optimism, idealism, imagination, hope, sunshine, philosophy, friendship, dishonesty, jealousy, illness, summer, gold Thought to help energize people and relieve depression. However, people lose their tempers more often in yellow rooms and babies cry more. Yellow enhances concentration = legal pads. It is also thought to speed metabolism.

6. Orange Energy, balance, enthusiasm, warmth, vibrant, expansive, flamboyant Demanding of attention.

7. Green Nature, environment, health, good luck, renewal, youth, spring, generosity, fertility, jealousy, inexperience, vigor Is the easiest color on the eye and is thought to improve vision. People waiting to appear on t.v. sit in “green rooms” to relax and hospitals paint their rooms green because it relaxes patients.

8. Violet Royalty, nobility, spirituality, ceremony, mysterious, transformation, wisdom, enlightenment, cruelty, mourning People who wear violet are thought to be wealthy.

9. White Reverence, purity, birth, simplicity, cleanliness, peace, humility, precision, innocence, youth, winter, sterility, marriage, death, cold Doctors and nurses will wear white to imply sterility.

Black Power, sophistication, formality, elegance, wealth, mystery, fear, evil, unhappiness, depth, style, sadness, anger, anonymity, underground, mourning, death Black can imply submission and some fashion experts say that women wearing black implies submission to men. Black outfits can also be overpowering or make the wearer seem aloof. Black can also have contradicting qualities: represents rebellion and conformity; wealth and poverty; authority and humility.

11. Designing with Color What you need to ask yourself when you’re picking colors for your sculpture Do I want a part or parts of my sculpture to be dominant/stand out? Do I want to use a color scheme? Do I want my additives or subtractives to “look” realistic? Do I want each letter to have a different color or have my color design go across the whole sculpture?

12. Glazing You will be glazing your sculptures after they have been bisque fired. Glaze: a type of “paint” for ceramics. Glaze is a mixture of clay, glass and tint/color.

13. Rules for Glazing Color Choice: You can decide on which colors you would like to use on your sculpture, BUT it must also represent you, symbolize an aspect of you, or be a design choice. You may NOT glaze the bottom of your sculpture. Since there is glass in the glaze, it will melt in the kiln and glue itself to the bottom. Do NOT take more than ONE glaze container at a time.

14. Rules Continued Coating your sculpture: 1 coat has the tendency to look uneven or spotty 2-3 coats gives you a glossy look on your ceramics You can use different colors on top of each other to give it a “painterly” quality.
