MLA FORMAT: SET MARGINS/FONT/SPACING SET MARGINS- Page Layout Margins 1 inch all around SET SPACING- Paragraph-select arrow in the lower corner Change spacing to double FONT STYLE & SIZE- Times New Roman 12 pt. 11A

Line spacing-select double-USE TRIPLE SPACING FOR TURN IT IN COPIES: Select Multiple Change it to 3 Type YOUR NAME Teacher’s Name Ms. Schaner Class Name & hour Engl. 11A 5th Date (in MLA format) 21 Sep. 2013 (will change to date you complete the paper before final printing) 11A

MLA FORMAT: TITLE Type your title (or at least a temporary one) Center your title Hit enter and make sure you set layout back to the left before continuing. SAVE TO YOUR H:DRIVE and/or google drive 11A

MLA FORMAT: WORKS CITED Hit Control Enter at the same time to add a new page Do it again (you should see page 3 listed in the upper corner) Type the words- Work Cited Center it Realign to the left SAVE TO YOUR H:DRIVE or google drive 11A

DOUBLE CHECK-MLA FORMAT Header (last name and page #) Heading: Student Name Teacher Name Course Title Date (day month (ABBREVIATED) year Double space whole thing No extra spaces between paragraphs Works Cited is a separate page, but continues the page numbers 11A

Review paper expectations Review COW rules & assigned laptop #’s Begin drafting-INTRODUCTION Have multiple backup plans for saving and continued work. (google.docs, travel drive, e-mail, h:drive/webportal, etc.) Please be responsible and professional. INTRODUCTION DUE BY END OF CLASS!

Works Cited & In-text Citations Works Cited-Use a work in an anthology in your agenda book to cite the text. Direct quotes must be typed exactly Use signal phrases-do NOT just “plunk” in! Cite (in-text and on works cited)any outside sources you use or references/quotes you incorporate Cite as a play-use author’s last name, page # and line # See example next slide 11A

ESSAY WORK! IN-TEXT CITATIONS must contain the author’s last name and the line number(s) of the quote in parenthesis. Use quote marks for exact words-make sure you type them accurately. Paraphrases still need citations! Smooth in quotes do not DROP IN! TITLE OF THE PLAY SHOULD BE IN ITALICS. AVOID “I” AND “you” Avoid CONTRACTIONS EXPLAIN!!
