What is my task? You will use your analysis skills to write an essay on Shakespeare’s Othello. You may choose to respond to the open- ended essay questions or you may choose to focus on a particular theme, issue or character.

Primary vs. Secondary Sources Secondary sources …are interpretations and evaluations of primary sources. Secondary sources are not evidence, but rather commentary on and discussion of evidence.

How will I use this information in my paper? You will need to keep a running list of important quotations and details to help you write your essay. You will also need to take notes as your read the play

What do I need to cite? Use MLA Citation format for your Works Cited page. Use proper MLA format for in-text citations. Your are required to use quotes from Othello and from your secondary source.
