Physical or Secondary- when it is torn,shredded, melted or ground before being used. 5. As a designer we need to think about where fabrics and components come from and how they were produced. As a consumer we need to look at the labels and buy products that have been produced ethically. The Ethical Trading Initiative works towards improving conditions in global supply chains.

9. Applies to fabrics that have been tested to prove they do not contain any harmful substances.

10.  Fairtrade provides a better deal for producers in developing countries.  The fairtrade mark gives a guarantee to consumers that the farmers and workers have been paid a fair and stable price.
