5 Addition The process of finding the total number of items when two or more groups of items are joined; the opposite operation of subtraction Example: 3 + 2 = 5 Departamento Matemáticas Sección Bilingüe

6 Addend (sumando) A number that is added to another in an addition problem Example: 2 + 3 = 5 The addends are 2 and 3. Departamento Matemáticas Sección Bilingüe

9 Multiplication The process of finding the total number of items in equal- sized groups, or of finding the total number of items in a given number of groups when each group contains the same number of items It is the opposite operation of division.
