1. God’s Good News to all people. The Son of God became man in the womb of a Virgin. Her name was Mary.

2. The Romans occupied Israel.

3. The Jewish people had been waiting for the coming of the Messiah, as foretold by the prophets.

4. One day, the Archangel Gabriel entered the house of a young girl whose name was Mary.

5. The angel told her: Rejoice, full of grace. The Lord is with you. You are chosen among all women to be the Mother of God.

6. Don’t be afraid, Mary; God has been gracious to you. You will conceive and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.

7. Mary said: Behold the handmaid of the Lord. Be it done unto me according to your word.
